Positioning with developmental aids.

 

The course is designed for neonatal nurses, practitioners and physiotherapists who have an interest in further enhancing developmental care practice within the neonatal environment.  In the last 10-15 years, increasing numbers of researchers have repeatedly demonstrated the need for an appropriate environment in which to care for the developing preterm infant. It has been shown that these infants have markedly improved outcomes when the stress of over stimulating is reduced in their environment through a reduction of noxious stimuli (light and sound) and the promotion of proper positioning and handling. Throughout the day we will discuss and explore “how does it feel to be a premature baby”.
